Bulls Senior 2nd’s
Bulls healthy bastard senior bs faced off against Freyberg Wolfpack today in round 2. The Bulls boys were dominant in the first half with both possession and territory. Pick and gos off the ruck and forcing errors through strong defence had Bulls at a handy lead at half time.
HT Bulls 24-7 Freyberg
The second half went a different direction with Freyberg carrying well and finding space and changing the momentum. Bulls boys were solid in defence but Freyberg scored from along way out to narrow the gap. The whole game got resettled after the momentum shift and both teams were again fighting for dominance. Bulls and Freyberg had great moments each in the second half but Bulls ended up finishing strong and on top.

Bulls Wahine
The Bulls Wahine were absolutely fizzing for their inaugural season opener in the Whanganui Tasman Tanning Women’s competition. Up against last year’s finalists, the Marist Clovers, they knew they were in for a real battle. From the first whistle, the Clovers came out firing — popping up like they were growing straight out of the field and causing all sorts of chaos for the Bulls’ defence. But true to Bulls fashion, the wahine weren’t backing down. Tackles were made, hits were taken, and several "run it straight" attempts were bravely executed. Eventually, captain Missy decided enough was enough and charged her way over the line, scoring the team's first try of the season. Unfortunately, the conversion attempt looked more destined for Upokongaro than the uprights. In the second half, the Bulls camped out near the try line for a few solid phases, but the Clovers’ defence stood firm — like the Great Wall of China. There were no gaps to be found. The Bulls Wahine tried to break it down brick by brick, but it wouldn’t budge. It seemed the Cullinane College field was full of Clovers and not Bulls this time around, with the wahine going down 91–5.
Getting the 3, 2, 1 point in the game were:
3 points – Maddy Ireton who showed us that her day job as a NZ Defence worker in the Air Force doesn’t stop on game day. Maddy’s defence was on point and she must have had about 12 Red Bulls before the game to have that much energy and speed through the 80 minutes.
2 point – Jojo Burke was into everything like a seagull at a picnic. The work rate from Jojo didn’t stop despite how many tackles she made and hits she took. She left it all out on the field.
1 point – Aneah Knight was running a muck setting up pods and showing us all how to run it straight. Someone in the way at ruck time….don’t panic Aneah made sure to clear the way.
Marist Clovers POD for Bulls Wahine:
Birdy (were not too sure of her first name anymore). Birdy played hard making some big hits, setting up the backline, kicking as though she was Ruahei Demant and was the constant voice you could hear guiding the Bulls around the park.
